Patna: The Jamalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat Express was once again targeted by stone-pelting, leaving passengers frightened on Monday evening. The incident happened around 5.15pm when the train was passing near Panjwar Road Halt between Barhat and Mandarhill. The train, moving at nearly 70 kmph, was struck suddenly by stones, causing panic inside the coaches.
According to officials, the attack damaged coach C-4, where stones hit several windows. The emergency window was completely shattered, while others developed cracks. Luckily, none of the passengers were injured. Travellers recalled hearing three loud bangs as stones smashed against the windows, creating fear and confusion.
Soon after the incident, Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel inspected the damaged coach and marked the area where the stones were thrown. A report has been sent to senior railway authorities. When the train reached Mandarhill station, officials reassured passengers that stronger security measures are being arranged to avoid similar incidents in the future.
This is not an isolated case. In June this year, stones were thrown at the Bhagalpur-Howrah Vande Bharat Express, damaging the glass of coach C-7. Earlier in April, another attack took place on the Howrah-Bhagalpur Vande Bharat near Pinargarhia. These repeated incidents have raised questions about railway safety, with passengers demanding strict action and better monitoring along the routes.
