Sheikhpura: A soldier from the Jharkhand Armed Police (JAP) was critically injured on Thursday when he was hit by a vehicle in the motorcade of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav during the ongoing Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar. The soldier’s right leg was fractured in three places, and he was subsequently referred to Patna for treatment.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra, jointly led by Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav, is en route to Lakhisarai. On Thursday, in Gandhi’s absence, Yadav took charge, accompanied by a visibly enthusiastic group of RJD workers.
Addressing a public meeting in Sheikhpura, Yadav stressed that his campaign would be inclusive, cutting across caste lines. He accused the opposition of attempting to “snatch not only the voting rights of the people but also their existence,” adding that those opposing the alliance “think of cheating Bihar,” while residents are resilient.
Meanwhile, Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP) founder Mukesh Sahni reaffirmed his party’s support for the Mahagathbandhan alliance, claiming it would contest 243 seats in the upcoming election. He described the campaign as a fight for citizens’ rights, emphasising the significance of every party within the coalition.
