Patna: Hormones play a very important role in women’s bodies. They regulate periods, fertility, pregnancy, mood, weight, energy levels, skin, and hair health. But in today’s busy world, many women are facing hormonal imbalances. Doctors say that this is not only due to modern lifestyles, but also because of some habits that women often do without realising how harmful they are.
One of the biggest causes of imbalance is lack of proper sleep. Experts say that at least seven to eight hours of sleep is essential for good health. Sleeping less increases stress hormones like cortisol, which then disturb other hormones. Constant stress and mental pressure from work, family, or personal life also harm the balance of thyroid, estrogen and progesterone. Unhealthy eating is another reason. Junk food, processed snacks, sugary drinks and too much caffeine can upset insulin and cortisol levels, which may even lead to problems such as PCOD.
Exercise is very important, but imbalance in activity can also harm the body. Women who do not exercise at all may face slow metabolism and weight problems. On the other hand, women who exercise too much can put extra stress on the body, which may disturb female hormones. Similarly, irregular eating habits, skipping meals, eating late at night, or drinking too little water can affect the body’s natural rhythm and toxin removal, making hormone problems worse.
Another hidden reason is the use of certain cosmetics. Chemicals present in many beauty products are known to interfere with hormones. Doctors also warn that many women ignore their health by missing check-ups or not paying attention to signs like irregular periods, weight changes, hair loss, or mood swings. These symptoms should never be ignored. Experts say that a healthy diet, enough sleep, regular but moderate exercise, drinking plenty of water and reducing stress are the best ways to maintain hormonal balance and live a healthier life.
