Patna: Thirteen districts in Bihar are under a yellow alert today, Sunday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light rain accompanied by lightning and thunder, along with winds potentially reaching 40 KM/H. While these areas may experience some relief, humid conditions are expected to persist in 25 other districts across the state.

Mixed Weather in Recent Hours

Over the past 24 hours, several districts, including Patna, Jamui, Samastipur, Raxaul, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul, Katihar, and Nawada, received rainfall. Motihari experienced pleasant weather with light drizzle. Despite light rain in the capital, Patna’s maximum temperature remained high at 39 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, temperatures in Patna, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Siwan, and Gopalganj all exceeded 39 degrees Celsius, contributing to the discomfort of the humid heat.

Heavy rain lashed Raxaul, Madhubani, Araria, Supaul, Katihar, and Nawada today, while Saharsa and Jehanabad reported cloudy skies and cool winds. Motihari saw light drizzle coupled with strong winds since early morning.

Monsoon Expected by Mid-June, Above Normal Rainfall Predicted

The IMD anticipates the monsoon’s arrival in Bihar between June 13 and 15. This year’s monsoon is projected to bring more rainfall than last year, with a possibility of up to 1137 mm against the average of 1024.3 mm. Rainfall activities are expected to intensify from the first week of June.

Residents, especially farmers working in fields, people in open areas, and construction laborers, are advised to exercise caution in the 13 districts under yellow alert, which include West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, and Bhagalpur, due to the risk of lightning and strong winds.
