Patna: The monsoon has become active once again in Bihar, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for 20 districts of the state today. Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by strong winds is likely in these areas.
Despite the alert, no rainfall was recorded in the past 24 hours across Bihar, including Patna, where residents faced discomfort due to humid heat under clear skies on Sunday.
According to the Meteorological Center, a cyclonic circulation is currently active over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar, leading to the formation of a north–south trough. This system is expected to bring scattered showers to the northern and western districts, including Patna, on Monday.
Patna Weather Today
The capital city is forecast to experience partly cloudy skies with light rainfall and mild winds during the day. Temperatures are not expected to fluctuate significantly, offering some relief from the recent humid conditions.
Rainfall Forecast Ahead of Durga Puja
Weather experts have cautioned that Bihar could witness heavier rainfall around Durga Puja. A cyclone developing over the North Andaman Sea and the Myanmar coast is likely to move toward the North Bay of Bengal by Tuesday, September 23, which could intensify rainfall activity across the state.
In addition, a fresh low-pressure area is expected to form in the Bay of Bengal near the Myanmar–Bangladesh coasts around September 25. If the system strengthens, it could trigger widespread heavy rainfall across Bihar during the festive period.
The IMD has advised residents to stay updated with weather advisories and exercise caution in vulnerable areas.
