Patna: YouTuber and former BJP member Manish Kashyap has joined Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party, marking a significant political shift ahead of the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. He was formally inducted into the party on Monday, with prashant Kishor welcoming him as a partner in what he described as a movement to overhaul Bihar’s governance.
Speaking at the event, Kishor urged like-minded citizens to join hands for systemic change in the state. “Those who truly want to transform Bihar must come together under a shared vision,” he said.
Manish Kashyap, who previously spent 13 months with the BJP, described his move as a response to Bihar’s deep-rooted issues. “This election will decide Bihar’s future. If you want safety and progress in the state, bring Jan Suraj to power,” he told supporters.
His entry into Jan Suraj follows weeks of speculation, especially after he shared photographs with party founder Prashant Kishor and national president Uday Singh on social media. In a poetic post, he promised to “rekindle extinguished hopes” and “erase the pain of migration” while vowing to “build a new Bihar”.
He joined the BJP shortly before the 2025 Lok Sabha elections and campaigned actively for the party in Bihar and neighbouring Jharkhand. However, tensions grew after a reported assault on him at PMCH hospital in Patna, which he claimed left him disillusioned with the BJP. On June 7, he announced his resignation and urged people to boycott Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Rohtas.
He is a native of Champaran, previously contested the 2020 assembly elections from the Chanpatia seat as an independent. That seat, considered a BJP stronghold, is now widely speculated to be his target constituency under the Jan Suraj banner. His departure from the BJP is believed to stem in part from the party’s reluctance to offer him a ticket from Chanpatia.
