Begusarai: The small village of Kharhat in Begusarai is in shock after the brutal murder of 12-year-old Amritanshu Kumar, the only son of Shyam Das Yadav. The boy, who had dreamed of becoming a senior police officer, was found dead in a field just 500 metres from his home on Friday.
Amritanshu had returned from tuition around 6 pm on Thursday, left his bag at home, and went out to play. When he did not return by 7 pm, his family searched for him throughout the night. His mutilated body was later discovered by his younger uncle and a local boy while cutting grass for animals. According to his father, half of Amritanshu’s throat was slit, his stomach was ripped open, and his private parts were cut.
Shyam Das Yadav, struggling to contain his grief, said, “I had one son after three daughters. I thought educating him would bring pride to our family. Who could commit such a ruthless act? We want the murderer punished and justice delivered.”
The family described Amritanshu as a bright student who aspired to be an SP, DSP, or collector. Two days before the murder, he had bought sandals for his grandfather and slippers for himself from the village fair, some of which were found at the crime scene.
Police, under the supervision of SP Manish and DSP Sakshi Kumari, have cordoned off the area and are investigating using both technical and manual surveillance. Forensic teams have collected evidence, and the investigation is considering all possible angles. The family has not named any suspects, but the police have promised a thorough investigation and swift action.
