Jehanabad: Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey on Friday said that both the Central and State governments are working with full commitment to ensure that quality medical facilities reach every citizen. He made the remarks while inaugurating a function at the Kurma Culture Medical College campus in Jehanabad.
Several prominent leaders attended the event, including Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh, former MPs Dr Jagdish Sharma and Chandeshwar Chandravanshi, former Union Minister Sanjay Paswan, Arwal MLA Manoj Sharma, Ghosi MLA Rituraj Kumar, Kurtha MLA Pappu Verma, Buxar MLA Anand Mishra and the institution’s Chairman Shankar Kumar.
The guests were welcomed by the institution’s Managing Director Om Narayan and Director Dr Rahul Kumar. Addressing the gathering, Pandey said that both the public and private sectors play a crucial role in strengthening the education and healthcare systems. He added that the government is taking effective steps to improve the public healthcare delivery mechanism.
The minister said that by simplifying complex procedures, approvals are being granted every year for new medical colleges so that a larger pool of doctors can be trained in the state. “This will make treatment more accessible to the common people. The government plans to open 42 new medical colleges in Bihar over the next three years,” he said.
Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pandey said that after 2014, the Prime Minister gave a new direction to medical services and education in the country. “Following his vision, quality healthcare initiatives are being continuously implemented in Bihar under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar,” he added.
He also announced that free treatment under the Ayushman Bharat scheme would soon begin at Kurma Medical College and Hospital. Legislative Council Chairman Awadhesh Narayan Singh termed the establishment of a medical college in a remote area like Jehanabad a bold and commendable decision. He praised Chairman Shankar Kumar for the initiative.

Former MP Dr Jagdish Sharma said that setting up a medical college is not an ordinary task and is a matter of pride for the district. Former MP Chandeshwar Chandravanshi described it as a revolutionary development effort and assured full support for the institution’s future growth.
