Patna: Republic Day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Patna will feature a series of tableaux from 12 Bihar government departments, offering a visual account of the state’s development agenda, social reforms and flagship welfare schemes.
According to officials, the tableaux are designed to communicate government initiatives directly to the public, with themes ranging from renewable energy and industrial growth to women’s employment, education and cultural heritage. The display is expected to be a central attraction of the ceremony, alongside the traditional parade.

Tight monitoring and administrative oversight
Preparations for the tableaux are underway at pace, with a three-member committee led by the deputy development commissioner monitoring progress around the clock. The district magistrate, Dr Thiyagarajan SM, is personally reviewing arrangements, while nodal officers have been appointed for each participating department to ensure coordination and compliance.
Pandal construction and safety norms
A dedicated pandal is being constructed at Gandhi Maidan to house the tableaux. Officials have capped the height of each tableau at 15 feet, with designs cleared in line with prescribed safety standards. The administration has stressed that structural stability and crowd safety are central to the planning process.
Security checks and final rehearsals
All tableaux will undergo mandatory anti-sabotage checks before entering the venue. A final full-dress rehearsal is scheduled ahead of the main event, and authorities have said strict vigilance will be maintained at every level to prevent any security lapses.
Guidelines for performers
The administration has issued clear instructions that no performer under the age of 15 may participate in the tableaux. Departments have been asked to adhere strictly to this rule.
This year’s Republic Day celebrations, officials said, are intended to go beyond ceremonial display, using the tableaux to narrate Bihar’s development story and provide citizens with a clear picture of government achievements and ongoing schemes.
