Begusarai: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar held a review meeting at Kargil Vijay Sabha Bhawan in Patna regarding ongoing developmental schemes in Begusarai district under the third phase of Pragati Yatra. During the meeting, District Magistrate Tushar Singla presented a detailed overview of various development initiatives in the region.

Tushar Singla highlighted several key schemes, including the Bihar Student Credit Card Scheme, Chief Minister Nishchay Self Help Allowance Scheme, Kushal Yuva Program, and the initiative to provide tap water to every home. The District Magistrate also outlined progress in constructing pucca streets and drains, rural solar street lights, irrigation water to farms, agricultural feeders, and electricity connections. He also discussed schemes for women’s empowerment, rural infrastructure, and access to healthcare, including telemedicine services at health sub-centers.

The review meeting saw participation from various public representatives who raised local concerns and issues faced by their constituencies. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar assured that all issues would be taken into serious consideration and resolved during the upcoming Bihar Assembly session. He emphasized that development had been a continuous process in Bihar since 2005, and the ongoing Pragati Yatra was a way to engage with the people and resolve their issues directly.

Nitish Kumar spoke about the rapid changes in Bihar since 2005, noting that the state had transformed from a place where people feared going out after dark to one where men and women could move freely. He mentioned the improvements in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and the overall security situation. He reiterated that no area in Bihar had been left untouched by development, stressing the progress in roads, hospitals, schools, and electricity distribution.

The Chief Minister also touched upon the development of more than 8,000 graveyards, boundary wall constructions in temples to prevent theft, and the establishment of numerous self-help groups. He spoke of the continued support for women through various initiatives like Jeevika and the provision of 50% reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and municipal bodies.

Nitish Kumar outlined the significant strides made in education, including the establishment of engineering colleges, medical colleges, and polytechnic institutes in Begusarai. He noted the progress of the medical college and hospital in Barauni, which is expected to be completed by next year. Other ongoing projects include a six-lane rail-cum-road bridge parallel to Rajendra Setu and the development of Simaria Dham as a tourist destination.

Regarding employment, the Chief Minister announced that Bihar had created over 9 lakh government jobs and provided employment to more than 24 lakh people. The target for government jobs had been increased to 12 lakh, with a focus on improving employment opportunities for the youth of the state. He also highlighted the continued expansion of medical facilities, including the ongoing work at PMCH, which is being transformed into a world-class hospital with 5,400 beds.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also emphasized the progress made in providing basic services like tap water, toilets, paved lanes, and electricity to every household under the Saat Nishchay Yojana. He assured that the remaining projects would be completed on time, with a focus on improving the quality of life for every resident of Bihar.

The Chief Minister also shared updates on the development of roads, including the widening of the Simaria to Lakhminia Ballia road, the expansion of the Teghra-Mubarakpur road, and the construction of a new bypass from Bakhri to Bahadurpur. Other announcements included the integrated development of Kawar Lake as a tourist destination, the development of the second phase of Simaria Ghat, and the construction of a degree college in Samho.

In his closing remarks, Chief Minister Kumar reassured the people of Begusarai that their needs would be met and emphasized that the government would continue to work tirelessly for the development of all regions of Bihar. He thanked the public representatives, officials, and all participants in the review meeting for their valuable input and commitment to the state’s progress.

District Magistrate Tushar Singla presented a green plant to the Chief Minister as a token of appreciation at the conclusion of the meeting. Several other dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Mangal Pandey, Sports Minister Surendra Mehta, and other senior officials, attended the meeting.
