Katihar: A tragic boat accident in the Ganga river near Amdabad in Katihar district has claimed the lives of three people, including a one-year-old child. Ten others are reported missing, while four managed to save themselves by swimming to safety.

The incident occurred in the early morning when a boat carrying 17 people from Meghu Ghat in South Karimullapur to Gaddai Diara capsized near Golaghat. The passengers were heading to the Diara area for farming and to check their fields.

The deceased have been identified as Pawan Kumar (60), Sudhir Mandal (70), and a one-year-old child. So far, three bodies have been recovered, and the search for the missing continues with the help of the local administration, SDRF, and NDRF teams.

The survivors have been admitted to Amdabad Primary Health Center for treatment. The Block Development Officer and Circle Officer are present at the site, coordinating rescue efforts alongside villagers.
