Begusarai Players Shine with 3 Medals in National Taekwondo Championship, Including Gold

Begusarai: Three Taekwondo players from Begusarai brought glory to the district by securing medals in the 7th National Open Taekwondo Championship held at Rajajipuram Mini Indoor Stadium, Lucknow. Out of 16 participants from the district, three players clinched prestigious medals, including a gold.

According to Nandu Kumar, Secretary-cum-Trainer of the District Taekwondo Association, the players represented Bihar at the event. Raj Kumar, son of Baby Devi and Mrityunjay Singh from Nagdah, achieved a historic milestone by winning the gold medal in the over-73 kg weight category. Raj had previously won a silver medal in the 68th National School Games Under-17 held in Vidisha, Madhya Pradesh.

Prince Kumar, son of Pinky Devi and Lalan Thakur from Sihma, bagged a bronze medal in the under-54 kg weight category. Similarly, Ravi Raj, son of Sarita Devi and Shambhu Kumar, also from Nagdah, secured a bronze medal in the under-58 kg weight category.

District Taekwondo Association President and BTMU Executive President Rajneesh Ranjan congratulated the medalists, emphasizing the growing prominence of Taekwondo in the district. He assured that efforts would be made to provide better facilities and training for players to achieve success on national and international platforms.

On this occasion, several officials, including BTMU Additional General Secretary Sanjeev Kumar, District Sports Coordinator Vishwajeet Kumar, Officer Association’s Piyush Rai, Welfare Center Secretary Bhogendra Kumar Kamal, Vice President Vagish Anand, Treasurer Dharmendra Kanojia, Joint Secretary Anil Kumar Tanti, District Coach Manikant, and Senior Sports Teacher Ranjit Kumar, extended their congratulations to the athletes.
