Cold-Day Conditions in 5 Bihar Districts, Dense Fog Alert for 16: Light Rain Forecast on January 27, Cold to Persist Until 31
Patna: A yellow alert has been issued for cold-day conditions in five districts of Bihar—Saran, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, and East Champaran—while dense fog warnings are in place for 16 districts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that dense fog is likely to persist across much of the state over the next two days.
Minimum temperatures across most districts are expected to hover between 10-14°C, with maximum temperatures ranging from 18-22°C. Additionally, light rain has been predicted for January 27, adding to the winter chill.
Temperature variations have been reported across the state, with Gaya recording a night temperature of 10°C while the daytime temperature climbed to 27.3°C. Cold-day conditions also continued in Patna and several other districts. Meteorologists anticipate no significant relief from the cold until January 31.
The presence of a western disturbance has led to increased moisture levels across the state, resulting in persistent dense fog. Areas near the Himalayan foothills are likely to experience severe fog over the next 24 hours, worsening visibility and maintaining cold-day conditions.
Meanwhile, Gopalganj recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state over the past 24 hours, reaching 27.3°C, offering some respite from the wintry conditions.
