Bihar Labour Resources Secretary attends ‘Utkarsh Odisha 2025’, Explores World Skill Centre Model for State

Bhubaneswar/ Patna: Bihar’s Labour Resources Department Secretary, Deepak Anand, participated in Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha 2025 in Bhubaneswar on a special invitation from the Odisha government’s Skill Development and Technical Education Department. The event, inaugurated in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Manjhi, focused on strengthening skill development initiatives across states.

Learning from Odisha’s World Skill Center

Anand attended the plenary session of “Skited-in-Odisha”, which highlighted successful skill development schemes across India. He also met Pinaki Patnaik, Chief Operating Officer of the World Skill Center, Odisha, and inspected its training programs. The World Skill Center, a modern skill development institute run by the Odisha government, sends students to Singapore under a student exchange program, providing them with international-level vocational training and industry exposure.

Impressed by the World Skill Center’s model, Anand expressed Bihar’s interest in adopting a similar approach. He emphasized that the Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM) is working towards providing world-class training to the state’s youth, helping them compete globally.

Bihar’s Vision for Global Competitiveness

Anand highlighted Bihar’s strong performance in competitive examinations, asserting that its youth have the potential to excel at the global level if provided with proper training and international exposure. He reiterated the Bihar government’s commitment to modern technical training aligned with market demands to enhance employment opportunities.

“The Bihar government will explore the possibility of setting up modern skill development centres on the lines of the World Skill Center. By providing global training and industry exposure, our youth can secure respectable employment opportunities worldwide,” Anand said.

Future Plans and Economic Impact

The Bihar government aims to integrate international training models into BSDM, equipping youth with skills that meet global standards. By adopting the World Skill Center framework, Bihar’s workforce will become more competitive at both national and international levels, contributing to the state’s economic growth. Accompanying Anand on this visit were Rajiv Ranjan, Special Secretary-cum-Additional CEO of BSDM, and Vishwajit Das Patnaik.
