Cold Westerly Winds Lowers Temperature Across Bihar, Banka Records 6°C

Bihar To See 3°C Rise In Temperature Over 4 Days; Cold To Return With Rain From February 8

Patna: A dip in temperatures was recorded across 30 cities in Bihar, including Patna, as cold westerly winds swept through the state. Banka was the coldest, with a minimum temperature of 6°C, while Patna recorded 12.5°C, marking a drop of 1.2 degrees. Over the past six days, the capital’s minimum temperature has declined by three degrees.

According to the Patna Meteorological Centre, a western disturbance led to a sharp fall in night temperatures, intensifying the cold during the morning and evening. While the disturbance has moved away from the hilly regions, its lingering effect is keeping temperatures low.

However, forecasters expect a shift in weather patterns. A decrease in wind speed is likely to cause a rise in temperatures over the next two days, easing the cold conditions.

On Saturday, an increase in maximum temperatures was recorded in 21 cities, including Patna, where the mercury reached 24.7°C. Sheikhpura was the warmest in the state at 25.9°C.

Several districts saw a sharp decline in minimum temperatures, with Jamui recording a drop of 4.4 degrees, Banka 4.3 degrees, Buxar 1.9 degrees, Madhepura 2.7 degrees, Pupri 3.3 degrees, Motihari 2.4 degrees, and Aurangabad 0.6 degrees.

Other notable declines included Dehri (1.5 degrees), Pusa (3 degrees), Bhagalpur (1.9 degrees), Purnia (1.8 degrees), Katihar (1.9 degrees), Begusarai (1.1 degrees), and Madhubani (2.2 degrees).
