Firing in Patna: Criminals Hide in House, STF and Police Launch Operation; Two Arrested

Patna: A tense police operation is underway in Patna’s Kankarbagh area, where security forces have surrounded a five-storey building to capture a group of armed criminals. The Special Task Force (STF) and personnel from five police stations have cordoned off the area, following a dramatic exchange of gunfire on Tuesday afternoon.

The standoff began around 2pm when four criminals allegedly opened fire on the police before taking refuge inside the residential building. Witnesses say the suspects had entered the premises earlier in the day, prompting a swift response from the police.

“At around 12 noon, four to five men entered the building. When the police arrived, the criminals started firing from inside,” said an eyewitness.

As of now, two criminals have been arrested, while others remain holed up inside the house of a local resident, Upendra Singh. The exact number of suspects still at large is unclear.

Over 80 personnel, including officers from five police stations, are on-site, armed and positioned around the building. Residents of the neighbourhood have locked their doors and windows as the high-stakes operation continues.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Avkash Kumar refrained from revealing details, stating, “Let the operation proceed. We will provide updates later.”
