Bhojpuri Star Pawan Singh to Contest Bihar Assembly Elections, Wife Jyoti Singh Also in the Fray

Patna : Bhojpuri actor and singer Pawan Singh has announced his intention to contest the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, marking a significant entry into state politics. His wife, Jyoti Singh, has also declared her candidature, further intensifying political discussions ahead of the polls.

Pawan Singh, known as the “Power Star” of Bhojpuri cinema, said in press conference in Jamshedpur, “After the Lok Sabha elections, I will definitely contest the assembly elections.” However, he did not reveal which party’s ticket he would seek. When asked about the possibility of contesting on a BJP ticket, he responded with a smile, saying, “Let the time come closer; everything will be known.”

Speculation Over BJP Ties

Pawan Singh’s political affiliations have been a topic of speculation, particularly his perceived proximity to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). BJP MLA Hari Bhushan Thakur Bachhaul commented on the matter, stating that the decision to offer a ticket would rest with the party’s top leadership. “In politics, anyone can contest elections from anywhere,” he added.

Sources suggest that Pawan Singh has been actively engaging with BJP leaders, frequently extending birthday wishes to them on social media. On February 2, he congratulated BJP leader and former Azamgarh MP Dinesh Lal Yadav, also known as Nirahua. A day earlier, he had wished BJP MP Manoj Tiwari, and on January 8, he extended greetings to former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. These interactions have fuelled speculation about his growing closeness to the party.

A Political Partnership

Adding to the intrigue Pawan Singh’s wife, Jyoti Singh, has also announced her candidacy for the assembly elections. While her political strategy remains unclear, her involvement indicates a potential power couple in Bihar politics.

Pawan Singh had previously contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as an independent candidate from the Karakat constituency after parting ways with the BJP. Despite his loss, he put up a strong fight against candidates from both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Grand Alliance. His wife played an active role in his campaign, and their renewed political aspirations suggest they are not stepping away from the electoral battlefield anytime soon.
