Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday reviewed the progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project, inspecting key construction sites at Gandhi Maidan, PMCH, and Patna University. Officials provided him with updates on the project’s status, including ongoing work at Rajendra Nagar, Moinul Haq Stadium, Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Pahari Par, Zero Mile, and ISBT Metro stations.

During the inspection, CM Nitish urged officials to expedite construction, stressing that the metro would ease congestion and improve daily commuting once operational.

The Patna Metro Rail Project was approved on February 27, 2019, and involves constructing a 31.9 km metro network with 24 stations. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is overseeing the project under the supervision of Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Department.

Work on the underground metro line began on November 21, 2023, with a tunnel boring machine (TBM) at Gandhi Maidan station, which has since reached Patna station via the Akashvani underground station. The first operational stretch, covering 6.01 km from Malahi Pakadi to Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zeromile, and Pataliputra Bus Terminal, is set to launch by August 15, 2025.
