Patna: Residents across Bihar are experiencing an early onset of summer, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures climbing steadily. In several districts, maximum temperatures have approached 35°C, while minimum temperatures have surpassed 20°C, prompting many to start using fans and service air conditioners.

Meteorologists anticipate that by late March, daytime temperatures could reach 40°C, raising concerns about intensified heat and potential heatwaves.

Kumar Gaurav, a scientist at the Patna Meteorological Center, noted that a western disturbance active since March 9 remains as a cyclonic circulation near western Iran. Additionally, a cyclone is active over Assam, and a new western disturbance is expected from March 12. However, these systems are unlikely to significantly impact Bihar’s weather. The increasing activity of westerly winds is expected to further elevate temperatures, intensifying the heat.

The Meteorological Department forecasts dry and hot conditions for Bihar today. Clear skies will result in strong sunlight, increasing the sensation of heat during the afternoon. Light gusts of westerly winds will contribute to the warm atmosphere. Over the next three days, both day and night temperatures are expected to rise by 3°C to 4°C.

On March 10, Gopalganj recorded the highest maximum temperature at 33.4°C, while Aurangabad experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 13°C. Begusarai had the warmest night, with a minimum temperature of 20.7°C.

Looking ahead to Holi, the festival is expected to be celebrated under warm conditions. According to weather forecasts, morning and night temperatures are anticipated to be mild, with daytime temperatures rising, allowing for vibrant celebrations.
