New Delhi/Patna: A Delhi court on Tuesday granted bail to several accused in the Land for Jobs case, including RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav and daughter Hema Yadav. The hearing took place at Rouse Avenue Court, where the accused secured bail on a bond of Rs 50,000 each. Among those present in court were Tej Pratap, and Hema Yadav.

The case, investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), alleges that Lalu Prasad, during his tenure as railway minister, facilitated job appointments in exchange for land parcels. The CBI’s final charge sheet, which names Prasad and 78 others, was acknowledged by the court on February 25, leading to summons being issued. The accused were directed to appear on March 11.

According to the charge sheet, 30 public servants are among the accused. The CBI informed the court that it had sought permission to prosecute RK Mahajan, a Railway Board officer, with a list of witnesses prepared against him. A decision on this matter is pending. Earlier, on January 16, the court had warned that if approval for Mahajan’s prosecution was not obtained by January 30, the competent authority would be required to provide an explanation.

Meanwhile, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also been investigating the case. On January 20, officials from its Delhi and Patna offices questioned Lalu Prasad and his son, Tejashwi Yadav, for over 10 hours. Sources said Lalu was asked more than 50 questions, often responding with a simple “yes” or “no” and occasionally displaying frustration. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav was similarly interrogated for nearly 11 hours on January 30.
