Bihar Police Tightens Surveillance for Holi and Ramzan with CCTV, Drones, and Social Media Monitoring

Patna : Bihar Police has ramped up surveillance across the state ahead of Holi and Ramzan, deploying CCTV cameras, drones, and additional personnel to maintain law and order. Authorities have also imposed a ban on DJs and obscene songs, with strict action promised against violators.

Approximately 5,000 personnel, including magistrates, have been stationed at 594 locations in Patna district, with key areas such as Sadar, Danapur, Barh, Masaurhi, and Paliganj under heightened security. Quick Response Teams (QRT) and mobile units have been deployed to tackle emergencies, and flag marches are being conducted across neighborhoods.

Crackdown on Obscene Songs and Fake News

Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has ordered stringent action against those playing vulgar songs during Holi, with special monitoring from control rooms. Offenders will face FIRs, and DJs found playing banned songs will be seized.

Authorities are also keeping a close watch on social media, warning against provocative posts and fake news. Dedicated teams have been set up to monitor inflammatory content, and anyone found spreading communal tension through messages, memes, or videos will face legal action.

A public advisory issued by Bihar Police states: “Playing obscene or double-meaning Bhojpuri songs in public places, including buses and autos, is a legal offense. Action will be taken against violators.”

Heightened Vigilance for Friday Prayers and Holi

Security has been reinforced around mosques and religious sites, especially for Friday prayers coinciding with Holi celebrations. Police units will be deployed near mosques and khanqahs, with additional monitoring through CCTV and drones. Authorities have also been directed to crack down on reckless driving and any attempts to disrupt public order.

Hospitals on Alert for Festival-Related Injuries

In anticipation of festival-related injuries, major hospitals, including PMCH, IGIMS, NMCH, and AIIMS Patna, have been placed on high alert. Emergency services have been strengthened, with 20 beds reserved at each facility and doctors’ leave canceled to ensure round-the-clock medical care. Separate ambulances have also been allocated to handle medical emergencies.
