Patna: The ISKCON temple in Patna marked the festival of Gaura Purnima with great devotion on Friday, celebrating the birth anniversary of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the revered saint and proponent of Bhakti Yoga. The festival witnessed a grand Abhishek ceremony, Sankirtan, and a unique Holi of flowers, drawing hundreds of devotees in a vibrant display of faith and spirituality.

The celebrations began with the Panchamrit Abhishek, a ceremonial bathing of the deity with a mixture of milk, honey, ghee, curd, and sugar. The temple premises resonated with the chanting of Harinam Sankirtan, as devotees immersed themselves in the rhythmic devotion.

A major highlight of the festival was the Holi of flowers, where worshippers replaced traditional colours with fragrant petals, playing in front of the deity as a symbol of divine love. The event concluded with the distribution of Mahaprasad, a sacred meal offered to all attendees.

Mahavishnu Swami Maharaj, a senior ISKCON monk from London, addressed the gathering, emphasising the significance of the festival. “Gaura Purnima is a symbol of love and devotion. Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who appeared in Bengal over 550 years ago, spread the divine message of Harinam Sankirtan, uniting people through the chanting of the Lord’s name,” he said.
