Sabour: Krishi Gyan Vahan, an initiative by Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, has successfully completed one year, reaching over 14,633 farmers across 211 locations in 76 blocks of 14 districts. Launched on March 15, 2024, under the fourth agricultural roadmap, this mobile knowledge vehicle has played a vital role in providing solutions to farmers at their doorstep. The initiative was flagged off by the Chief Minister of Bihar and has since gained appreciation at various levels, including from the Governor of Bihar.
The project has addressed a range of agricultural concerns, including pest and disease management in crops, animal health services, and promoting self-employment among rural youth. Farmers have benefited from direct consultations, while live broadcasts of the “Sawaal-Jawab” program have helped even those in remote areas. The initiative has significantly contributed to raising awareness about modern agricultural techniques and solutions.
Vice Chancellor D. R. Singh emphasized the effectiveness of Krishi Gyan Vahan in delivering scientific agricultural knowledge to farmers. He highlighted its role not only in solving farming-related challenges but also in inspiring rural youth towards entrepreneurship and self-employment. The university remains committed to expanding its outreach and ensuring that modern agricultural knowledge reaches every farmer.
Encouraged by its success, Bihar Agricultural University plans to expand the initiative by increasing the number of vehicles, covering more areas, and integrating advanced technologies. The goal is to empower the farming community with up-to-date agricultural information, ultimately improving productivity and income for farmers across the state.
