Patna : Patna Women’s College marked Earth Day with a thoughtful celebration under the theme “Planting Saplings of Sustainability,” organised by the SRISHTI Environment Club in collaboration with the Department of Geography. The event, held on April 22, aimed to promote environmental awareness and community engagement among students and faculty.

The event was supported by Principal Dr. Sister M. Rashmi A.C. and Vice Principal Dr. Sister M. Tanisha A.C., who encouraged the college’s commitment to sustainability and a greener future. The programme began with a welcome address from Ms. Meenakshi Mishra, Coordinator of the SRISHTI Environment Club and Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography.

Dr. Amrita Chowdhary, Coordinator of IQAC and Head of the Department of Geography, administered the SRISHTI Environment Club oath, urging students to become “warriors of nature” in the fight to protect the planet. She emphasized the club’s mission of fostering environmental consciousness and action.

The event featured a performance of the SRISHTI Environment Club anthem, sung by the members, and was attended by faculty members Dr. Sister Anna A.C., Ms. Tulika Kumari, and Ms. Jahanvi.

Over 150 students participated, each bringing plant saplings to support the sustainability cause. Students Rimpi Aishwarya and Amrita from Geography, and Sachi from Psychology, shared self-written poems highlighting the importance of Earth Day and environmental protection.

The initiative was coordinated by Ms. Meenakshi Mishra, with the vote of thanks delivered by Shailja Gautam, Environment and Discipline Secretary of the Student Council for 2025-2026.

Through this event, Patna Women’s College reaffirmed its dedication to environmental stewardship and inspired its community to take meaningful steps toward a sustainable future.
