Gopalganj/ Patna: An MBBS student from Bihar’s Gopalganj district was allegedly killed by his classmate following a dispute at Eurasian University in Kyrgyzstan on Monday night. The victim, Nitish Kumar Choubey, 26, hailed from Chakia village under Kateya police station, and was nearing completion of his medical degree in July.
According to family members, Nitish was fatally injured when fellow student Deepesh Gurjar, reportedly from Rajasthan, struck him on the head with a pressure cooker during an argument. Nitish was rushed to a hospital by other students but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The incident has devastated Nitish’s family, already burdened by hardship after the death of his father. His mother and elder brother, Dhanu Kumar Choubey, were inconsolable upon receiving the news. The family had reportedly sold their land to fund Nitish’s medical studies abroad, hoping to secure a better future.
The bereaved family has now appealed to India’s Ministry of External Affairs to intervene and arrange the repatriation of Nitish’s body.
