Muzaffarpur: Bihar is all set to get its third Amrit Bharat Express train in July. This new train will run between Muzaffarpur and Howrah in West Bengal. It is being launched in an election year as a gift to the people of the state. The railway department has already started preparing for the train’s launch.
On Wednesday, Sonpur DRM Vivek Bhushan Sood visited Muzaffarpur Junction to check the progress. He inspected platforms 7 and 8, where the train is likely to stop. He also gave instructions to finish all technical work on time. During his visit to the washing pit area, he noticed waterlogging problems and asked officials to fix the drainage system quickly.
The railway board will soon release the full schedule of the Muzaffarpur-Howrah Amrit Bharat Express. At present, trains on this route take 12 to 14 hours, but this new train is expected to complete the journey in just 10 hours. This is because it uses push-pull technology with engines at both ends, which helps it move faster.
The Amrit Bharat Express is a non-AC train with sleeper and unreserved coaches. It is made for affordable and quicker travel. Bihar already has two such trains – one from Darbhanga to Delhi and another from Saharsa to Mumbai. This third train will add to the convenience of passengers in the state.
