Patna: Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari’s flight was diverted to Gaya airport on Thursday due to bad weather conditions. Nitin was travelling from Garhwa to Ranchi when heavy rain and dense clouds caused extremely low visibility along the route.
His aircraft landed safely at Gaya airport around 4:30 pm. Nitin remained there for approximately 40 minutes while an alternative plane was arranged to take him to Ranchi. He departed for Ranchi at about 5:15 pm.
Airport Director Bangjeet Shah said the airport authority received information about the diversion roughly 40 minutes before landing and immediately switched to alert mode. Security was tightened at the airport, and arrangements were made for Nitin to wait in the resting area.
Interestingly, even Gaya district BJP president Prem Prakash alias Chintu was not informed about the minister’s arrival despite the airport being in his constituency.
