Sitamarhi: A man has been arrested in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district on suspicion of repeatedly raping his 10-year-old daughter over several days while her mother was away. The alleged abuse came to light on Wednesday night when the girl’s screams alerted neighbours, who apprehended the father and handed him over to the police.
Police in the Dumra station area confirmed the arrest and have launched an investigation. According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the victim, her mother had been at her maternal home for several days, leaving the girl and her three younger siblings in the care of their father.
The girl alleges that her father began “doing wrong things” to her under threat for several days. On July 3, around 8:30 pm, the abuse allegedly resumed after dinner, prompting her to scream. Neighbours, rushed to the scene. The father reportedly attempted to flee but was caught by villagers who then handed him over to the authorities.
The Dumra Station House Officer (SHO) stated that immediate action was taken. A case has been registered based on the victim’s statement, and the accused father has been sent to judicial custody. A medical examination of the girl has also been conducted as part of the ongoing investigation.
