Bihar Government Launches Rs 100 Crore Road Projects in Purnia to Ease Traffic and Boost Connectivity

Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin announced that new roads worth over Rs 100 crore, including the widening of Banmankhi-Dhamdaha road, will transform traffic flow and development in Purnia.

Purnia: More than Rs 100 crore worth of road schemes were dedicated to residents of Purnia on Thursday as Bihar’s Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin laid foundation stones for major projects across Banmankhi, Dhamdaha, and Purnia city.
Speaking to the media, Nitin said Bihar is witnessing development in all directions under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “Today, a gift of more than Rs 100 crore has been dedicated to the people of Purnia, including the construction and renovation of three major roads,” he said.
He highlighted the Banmankhi-Dhamdaha road as a crucial project to resolve persistent traffic congestion. “Currently, the road from Dhamdaha to Banmankhi is only 3 metres wide. After widening to 7 metres, it will ease jams at Banmankhi cattle market, main market, Mangalchand Chowk, and Hriday Nagar,” Nabin said.
The new projects include the construction of a 21.50 km Dhamdaha-Banmankhi road at a cost of Rs 78.91 crore from the State Plan fund; widening of a 6 km stretch from NH 107 to Kazi at Rs 23 crore; and construction of a 4-lane service road of 650 metres on both sides of the railway overbridge on NH 31 in Purnia city, funded by NABARD at Rs 5.04 crore.
Naveen also emphasised the progress of the Patna-Purnia Expressway, a 282 km six-lane Greenfield expressway costing nearly Rs 18,000 crore. Once completed, it will reduce travel time between Patna and Purnia to just 3-4 hours and boost economic development across districts including Patna, Vaishali, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhepura, Saharsa, and Purnia.
The expressway will feature 21 major bridges, 140 minor bridges, 11 railway overbridges, 21 interchanges, and 322 vehicle underpasses or LBUPs. It is also expected to provide relief to flood-affected regions along its route.
