Saran: A dismissed CRPF jawan, Anand Kumar Singh, ended his life on Saturday in Jakhuwa village of Saran district, Bihar. The 45-year-old was found hanging in his room. Before taking the step, he recorded a video and wrote a suicide note, blaming his wife Sarita and his mother-in-law for his death.
In the video, Anand said he was “fed up” with his wife’s constant torture and insults. He alleged that his wife and her family mentally harassed him every day and made his life “hell”. He asked for legal action against her and requested that she not be forgiven or allowed to attend his last rites.
In his suicide note, Anand repeated that his wife and mother-in-law had destroyed his life. He told his sisters to take care of their mother and said his last rites should be performed by one of his nephews. He also asked that his wife and her family be kept away from his body and family.
Anand had a troubled past. In 2006, while posted in Jammu and Kashmir, he killed three colleagues after being denied leave and was sentenced to life in prison. The Supreme Court rejected his appeal in 2022. After spending about 18 years in jail, he was released on parole three months ago and had been living in his village before the incident.
