Siwan: A restaurant owner in Bihar’s Siwan district was shot dead by unidentified assailants while on his way to invite his sister for Raksha Bandhan, causing shock and outrage in the local community. The incident occurred late Friday evening near the gas agency in Repura village, Jeeradei police station area. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Vipendra Singh, was a resident of Jeeradei and operated a local restaurant.
According to reports, Vipendra was traveling to collect his sister for the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival when two masked motorcycle-borne attackers opened fire, killing him on the spot. A companion who was with Vipendra managed to escape and informed the family, who then rushed him to Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Local residents discovered his body later that evening, leading to a large gathering and mounting anger in the area. Police arrived on the scene, began their investigation, and sent the body for post-mortem. Officers noted that the killing bore signs of multiple wounds, suggesting a violent attack.
The murder has stirred tension and outrage, especially as it took place during the lead-up to a major festival. Siwan police have increased patrols in the region and set up a special team to identify and arrest the culprits. Authorities have assured residents that the case will be solved soon and that police presence will remain heightened until the perpetrators are caught.
