Patna: Patna’s western side will soon see better roads and smoother traffic. Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Monday laid the foundation for six projects worth Rs 766.73 crore. These works were promised during the Pragati Yatra and will now begin quickly. He asked officials to complete them fast so people can get the benefits sooner.
One of the main projects is the widening and strengthening of the 10.5 km AIIMS Golambar to Painapur Nav road at a cost of Rs 138.5 crore. A new 1 km flyover at Naubatpur Lakh, costing Rs 73.06 crore, will help drivers avoid jams and make it easier to travel towards Masaurhi. Nitish Kumar said these projects will help people in Phulwarisharif, Danapur, Naubatpur and nearby areas.
Other works include widening the Khagaul Nehru Path to Ashok Raj Path–Rupaspur Canal Path for Rs 71.48 crore, and connecting Digha AIIMS Patali Path to Nehru Path for Rs 143.86 crore. These will improve access to Pataliputra railway station, JP Setu, and AIIMS, while also reducing pressure on busy roads.
The biggest single project is the Rs 318.51 crore upgrade of Nehru Path from Rupaspur Canal to Saguna Mor with better drainage. Another Rs 21.35 crore will go to widening the road from Nehru Path to Gola Road, which serves fast-growing neighbourhoods. The chief minister said these projects will improve traffic flow, save time, and make travel more convenient for West Patna residents.
