Patna: The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation will open online ticket booking from September 1 for special AC and deluxe buses connecting Delhi, NCR and Haryana with Bihar cities for the festive rush of Dussehra, Diwali and Chhath, with operations scheduled from September 20 to November 30. Services will link 12 cities across Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal—such as Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Chandigarh, Panchkula, Ambala, Panipat, Lucknow, Siliguri and Kolkata—to six Bihar destinations: Patna, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, Gaya and Purnea, with daily runs during the 70-day window. Tickets will be available on the corporation’s portal, with BSRTC mounting a publicity drive to inform migrant travelers who typically face severe rail congestion during the festive season.
Officials said services start ahead of Navratri on September 22, with Dussehra on October 2, Diwali on October 20 and Chhath morning arghya on October 28, aiming to ease peak-season travel when train tickets are scarce and overcrowding is common. BSRTC indicated that daily services will operate both ways between Bihar and the listed cities through the period, offering additional capacity alongside rail options.
