Patna: Bihar police have formed five special cells to ensure strict monitoring during the upcoming assembly elections, expected in October-November this year. These cells have been set up under the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) on the orders of the police headquarters.
DIG (Economic Offences) Manavjit Singh Dhillon said the new units will focus on stopping drug smuggling, cybercrime, misuse of social media, fake currency and illegal cash transactions. He added that special instructions have been given to all departments to remain alert and take action on time.
The five cells will work in coordination with local police stations and report daily activities to the EOU. Officers of different ranks have been deployed in each cell, and their work will be closely monitored.
Police said that during elections, illegal cash flow and other unlawful activities often increase. These new cells will help in quick detection of such activities and make sure elections are transparent and fair.
