Muzaffarpur: Bihar University will hold its convocation on Monday after a gap of six years. In this ceremony, 53 postgraduate toppers from the 2021–23 and 2022–24 sessions will receive gold medals. Bihar governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Jammu and Kashmir lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha will be the chief guests and will honour the students.
Along with the toppers, 96 PhD researchers will get their degrees. One DSc in Science and one DLitt in Humanities will also be awarded. The university has also announced three special medals in memory of former professors. Avantika Dey and Madhav Mukund Murari will get the Political Science medal, while Sanjeev Kumar will receive the Economics medal. In total, 56 medals will be given, out of which 39 will go to women students.
Vice chancellor Prof DC Rai said that medals will be given in alphabetical order of the faculties, while researchers will receive certificates at their seats. Deans of the faculties will also join the stage for group photographs with the guests.
For security and arrangements, the university has decided that entry to the campus will be only from Kalambagh Chowk road before 9.30am. The governor and LG will arrive by helicopter and will plant a sapling before joining the academic procession. Officials said all preparations for the convocation are complete.
