Patna: The Bihar education department has started a new system to strictly monitor government schools. Now, schools will have to send daily photos showing prayers, student and teacher attendance, and classroom activities. The aim is to improve discipline and ensure proper teaching in every school.
Students and teachers must reach school by 9.30am. After that, the gates will be closed and latecomers will not be allowed to enter. The morning session will include prayer, state song, national anthem, motivational stories and checking of hair, nails and uniforms. The national anthem will be played 15 minutes before classes start.
The photos will also record the school’s location, time and number of students present. Officials can ask for these pictures at any time, and schools must provide them. If rules are not followed, the head of the school will have to give a written reply and strict action may be taken.
The new system was introduced by Additional Chief Secretary Dr S Siddharth. Photos from three schools in each district were already reviewed in August, and most schools were found to be working as per the rules. The first three classes of every day will now be dedicated to mathematics, science and language.
