Mumbai/Patna: In a moving episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Mithilesh Kumar Yadav, a resident of Nawadih village in Bihar’s Nawada district, secured winnings of Rs 25 lakh, earning admiration from host Amitabh Bachchan and audiences across India.
Mithilesh, the son of Bhuneshwar Yadav, overcame personal tragedy, having lost both parents at a young age, and carried the responsibility of raising his younger brother Ankush. Working as a tutor to sustain his family, he described his dream of providing his brother with an English-medium education — a story that left many on the KBC set visibly emotional.
After clearing the Fastest Finger First round, Mithilesh held his nerve in the hot seat, navigating questions with composure. Supported by all his lifelines, he advanced to the Rs 25 lakh prize before choosing to quit on a Rs 50 lakh question.
During the episode, Bachchan lightened the mood when Mithilesh grew teary-eyed recounting his struggles, handing him tissues with a touch of humour. The actor praised the contestant’s determination and his devotion to his brother’s future, while audiences applauded the young man’s resilience.
The episode aired on Thursday evening on Sony TV and is also available on Sony Liv for streaming.
