Patna: The 16-day “Voter Adhikar Yatra” led by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Mahagathbandhan allies is set to conclude in Patna today. Gandhi arrived at the historic Gandhi Maidan, where he paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by garlanding his statue before preparing to address supporters.
The planned route to Ambedkar Chowk near the High Court was denied permission by the district administration, prompting organisers to set up a stage at the busy Dak Bungalow Square instead. Gandhi, along with senior leaders including Congress National President Mallika Arjun Kharge, will address workers and supporters from the square.
State Mahagathbandhan President Rajesh Ram welcomed the leaders at the airport earlier. A large number of alliance workers have gathered at the venue, waving flags and banners in what is being viewed as a show of strength ahead of upcoming elections.
Security around Dak Bungalow Square has been tightened, with the area cordoned off and a significant deployment of forces ensuring the event proceeds without disruption.
