Patna: Political activity in Bihar has intensified ahead of the 2025 assembly elections. Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav has suddenly called a meeting of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) legislature party on Wednesday afternoon at his residence, 1 Polo Road, Patna.
The meeting, which will be chaired by Tejaswi, is expected to be attended by all RJD MLAs. Party insiders suggest that crucial decisions regarding seat-sharing and electoral strategy are likely to be discussed.
The RJD has been in action since the conclusion of the Voter Adhikar Yatra on September 1, which was jointly led by Tejaswi Prasad Yadav and Rahul Gandhi. While Tejaswi repeatedly projected himself as the chief ministerial candidate during the campaign, Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have not openly endorsed his claim, creating friction within the alliance.
This tension is expected to surface in Wednesday’s meeting, with seat-sharing talks between allies now reaching a decisive phase. Both the Mahagathbandhan and the NDA are working to finalise their arrangements in September, as the Election Commission is likely to announce the poll dates this month.
With little time left before the state heads to the ballot, the RJD meeting signals a renewed urgency within the opposition to resolve internal disputes and present a united front against the ruling alliance.
