Patna: The monsoon has once again turned active in Bihar, bringing heavy rainfall to several districts on Tuesday morning. Raxaul and Begusarai witnessed downpours that left roads waterlogged, while dark clouds hovered over Patna, Nalanda and Supaul.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 25 districts, including Bhojpur, Rohtas and Muzaffarpur, warning of rain accompanied by winds up to 40 km/h. Meanwhile, the weather is expected to remain dry in the remaining 13 districts, though conditions may change by evening.

Heavy Rain Likely Till September 17

According to the IMD, Bihar is expected to receive widespread heavy rainfall between September 10 and 17. Patna, however, is likely to record below-normal rainfall during this spell. Temperatures across the state may dip by 2–3 degrees Celsius, providing some respite from humidity.

Patna Weather Today

The capital is likely to remain cloudy with chances of light rain through the day. Between September 11 and 17, Patna may experience strong winds along with light to moderate showers. Heavy rain is most likely between September 13 and 15, after which temperatures are expected to fall further.

Cyclonic Circulation Behind Active Monsoon

Meteorologists attributed the renewed monsoon activity to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, which is currently influencing Northeast India and Bihar. This system is drawing in moisture from the sea, intensifying rainfall across the state.

Scientists have cautioned that heavy downpours could trigger flash floods, waterlogging and transport disruption in many districts. Rural areas may also face crop damage and road washouts due to standing water in fields.

Weather in Last 24 Hours

In the past 24 hours, several parts of Patna recorded heavy rainfall. While residents faced high humidity and cloudy skies, many localities experienced prolonged afternoon showers, adding to waterlogging woes.
