Patna: The Indian government is keeping a close watch on the turmoil in Nepal following the violent Gen-G protests, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said during his visit to Patna on Thursday.

With reports of Indians in Nepal returning home out of concern, Goyal assured that “there is no need to worry,” citing India’s track record of evacuating citizens even from war zones. “Our foreign ministry is monitoring the situation closely. I spoke to our ambassador last night and a helpline has been set up to help anyone in need,” he said.

The minister expressed hope that peace would return to Nepal soon, adding: “We expect the system to be restored as quickly as possible.”

pic.twitter.com/I2vLnYutbJ

At a press briefing in the BJP state office, Goyal also took aim at RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, criticising them for failing to apologise for what he called “objectionable remarks” made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother from an opposition stage. He further dismissed speculation around Tejashwi’s possible chief ministerial candidacy, saying Nitish Kumar remained unchallenged and that “the NDA government will be formed again in Bihar.”

Goyal announced two major road projects for Bihar – the Mokama–Munger four-lane corridor and the Bhagalpur–Dumka route – with a combined cost of Rs 4,447 crore. He said the projects reflected Bihar’s rapid progress under the “double-engine government” and insisted that voters would not return to what he described as the state’s “Jungle Raj” era.
