Hajipur: A key milestone in Bihar’s railway development was reached on Friday as the newly constructed 9-kilometre Amha Pipra-Triveniganj section underwent a detailed safety inspection. The inspection was carried out by Mr Sumit Singhal, Safety Commissioner (Railway), Eastern Circle, Kolkata, and focused on the newly completed tracks, bridges, culverts, and station facilities along the route.
The inspection team also checked essential railway operations rooms, including the panel room, relay room, and IPS room. To test the track for safety and speed, a special train was run between Amha Pipra and Triveniganj. The Divisional Railway Manager of Samastipur, Mr Jyoti Prakash Mishra, along with senior officials from the Construction Department, were present to oversee the inspection and assess the readiness of the line.
The Amha Pipra-Triveniganj section forms part of the larger 95-kilometre Araria-Supaul New Rail Line Project, which is being executed in phases. The first phase, covering the 22-kilometre Supaul-Amha Pipra stretch, was completed earlier this year in March 2025. This second phase adds another 9 kilometres, bringing the project closer to completion and connecting more towns and villages in the region.
Railway officials highlighted that the new section will make train travel safer, faster, and more convenient for passengers. It is also expected to improve the movement of goods, boost local businesses, and provide easier access to remote areas of Bihar. Communities along the route are likely to benefit from enhanced connectivity and the economic opportunities that come with it.
