Gayaji: On the ninth day of Sharadiya Navratri, devotees filled the city’s streets and pandals to worship Maa Durga, undeterred by heavy rain that began in the afternoon and continued on and off until late evening. Families, young children, and elderly people came together, chanting prayers and offering aarti, their devotion shining brightly even in the wet weather. The atmosphere of the city was filled with faith and celebration, as people gathered to pray for happiness, prosperity, and blessings from Maa Bhavani.
Major pandals at Gol Bagh, Station Road, Ghughritand Bypass, and Kedarnath Market were crowded with devotees, forming long queues to have darshan of the beautifully decorated idols. Pandal committees worked hard to manage the crowds and make arrangements so that people could have easy access for worship. Despite some inconvenience caused by the rain, the enthusiasm of the devotees remained strong, showing how deep and unwavering their faith is.
The rain also brought changes to the city’s markets. Shops selling street food like golgappa, chaat, pakora, and sweets were briefly affected but reopened quickly once the showers eased. Temporary vendors around the pandals kept their stalls open under umbrellas, tarpaulins, and plastic sheets, making sure that devotees could enjoy snacks and treats while participating in the celebrations. The wet streets could not dampen the festive spirit of the people.
Devotees said that while rain is natural, it does not take away the joy of seeing Maa Durga and receiving her blessings. The sounds of aarti and devotional songs echoed across the city, creating an atmosphere of spirituality and unity. As Navratri neared its end, the ninth day became a memorable celebration, highlighting the devotion, faith, and resilience of the city’s people, who came together to honour Maa Durga despite all obstacles.
