Raghopur: An FIR has been lodged against Jan Suraj Party founder Prashant Kishor for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct in Raghopur, Vaishali district, as preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections intensify.
The complaint, filed by Raghopur District Magistrate Deepak Kumar, accuses prashant and his convoy of entering the constituency on Saturday without adhering to election regulations. The FIR, registered at Raghopur police station, also names the local block president and other unidentified individuals.
Prashant launched his election campaign from Raghopur—considered the traditional constituency of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav. Addressing supporters, he made a pointed reference to Tejaswi’s possible decision to contest from multiple seats, remarking that “perhaps his fate will be like that of Rahul Gandhi, who won Wayanad in 2019 but lost his traditional Amethi seat.”
The 47-year-old politician received an enthusiastic reception from local supporters, who welcomed him with garlands, drums, and slogans. Over the past few years, Prashant has walked across Bihar, engaging directly with villagers about issues such as poor infrastructure, inadequate schools, and limited access to basic services.
Meanwhile, both the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition-led All India Alliance are finalising seat-sharing arrangements as the state moves closer to polling. The Jan Suraj Party, positioning itself as an alternative force, continues to draw attention with its grassroots mobilisation efforts.
