Patna: Bhojpuri film actress Sima Singh has officially entered Bihar’s political scene by filing her nomination for the Madhaura Assembly constituency. Contesting on a Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) ticket, Singh’s entry has drawn significant attention due to her fame in the Bhojpuri film industry and her relatively modest educational background. Despite having studied only up to the 9th grade, Singh has managed to accumulate substantial wealth through her work in films and performances.
According to her nomination papers, Sima Singh completed her schooling at The Rem Hegar Hinde High School in Thane, Maharashtra, in 1999. After that, she established herself in the Bhojpuri entertainment industry, becoming a well-known actress and item song performer. Her popularity in cinema is now being tested in the political arena, as she attempts to transform her fan base into voter support in the upcoming elections.
Singh’s affidavit has revealed her financial details, showing that she owns gold jewellery worth Rs 22.5 lakh, movable assets of Rs 6 lakh, and immovable property worth Rs 26.25 lakh. She has also declared cash holdings of Rs 2.9 lakh. Her husband, Saurabh Kumar, submitted information about their joint property, including movable and immovable assets worth Rs 32 lakh. Together, the couple’s assets total approximately Rs 58 lakh. These disclosures have surprised many, given her limited formal education.
The first phase of nominations for the Bihar Assembly elections concluded on October 17, and several Bhojpuri stars have entered the fray. Sima Singh’s candidature is seen as a strong move by the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), aiming to leverage her popularity to win the Madhaura seat. After winning hearts on screen with her performances, Singh is now hoping to win the trust of voters, marking a new chapter in her career as she steps from entertainment into politics.
