Supaul: In a dramatic turn of events during Bihar’s election season, state minister and senior Janata Dal (United) leader Bijendra Prasad Yadav was met with open hostility from villagers in Supaul’s Marouna block on Thursday. The incident took place in Kamrel village, where Yadav had arrived as part of his campaign tour.
Locals, angry over years of unfulfilled promises, refused to allow the minister to enter the area. Chanting “Road nahi to vote nahi” (No road, no vote) and “Vikas ke jhoothe vaade ab nahi chalenge” (No more false promises of development), residents blocked his convoy and demanded immediate road construction.

According to eyewitnesses, villagers claimed that despite repeated assurances from local authorities, no progress had been made on basic infrastructure. A viral video circulating on social media shows dozens of villagers confronting the minister, forcing him to leave the area amid chants of protest.
Public backlash and political impact
Political analysts say the episode could dent the JDU’s prospects in Supaul, where Yadav is considered an influential figure within the Vishwakarma community. “Ground-level anger like this can significantly alter voting patterns,” said one political observer. “People are now demanding performance, not promises.”
Administration’s response
District officials maintained that the situation is “under control”. “The matter is being investigated and additional security measures have been put in place,” said a spokesperson for the administration. Officials confirmed there was no violence or damage to property during the protest.
