Amit Shah Promises to Revive Gopalganj’s Closed Sugar Mills Within Five Years, Attacks ‘Jungle Raj’ in Virtual Rally

Gopalganj: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday pledged to restart Gopalganj’s defunct sugar mills within the next five years, addressing voters virtually after his helicopter failed to take off from Patna due to inclement weather.

Speaking at a virtual rally as part of the ongoing Bihar Assembly Election 2025 campaign, Shah said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government had revived the Riga sugar mill, and similar efforts would be extended across Bihar. “The defunct sugar mills in Bihar will be restarted in the next five years,” he assured.

In his eight-minute address, Shah framed the election as a decisive choice between progress and regression. “This election isn’t just about electing MLAs; it’s about deciding Bihar’s future,” he said. “Will people choose those who brought jungle raj for years, or the development seen under Narendra ji and Nitish ji?”

Recalling Bihar’s violent history, Shah invoked memories of the Bathani Tola, Sonari, and Shankarbigha massacres. “These 34 massacres stained Bihar’s land with blood. Who knows more about Sadhu Yadav’s exploits than the people of Gopalganj?” he asked, referring to the RJD leader and brother-in-law of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

The Home Minister also highlighted the NDA government’s achievements in Nalanda, Lakhisarai, and Munger, where he recently campaigned. “In Nalanda, Modi and Nitish did work worth thousands of crores. During Lalu’s time, 38 massacres took place — Nitish ended that reign of terror,” Shah said.

Earlier in Lakhisarai, Shah had urged voters to support Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha, while in Munger, he sought votes for Samrat Choudhary, calling him “a great man whom Modi ji will make greater.”

The Gopalganj district will witness intense contests in several key constituencies, including Baikunthpur, Barauli, Gopalganj, and Hathua, where NDA and Grand Alliance candidates are locked in tight battles.

The Bihar Assembly election will be conducted in three phases across 243 constituencies, with polling scheduled for November 6 and November 11, and results to be announced on November 14.
