Patna: In the wake of Bihar’s 2025 assembly election results, opposition leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav acknowledged the triumph of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) while framing the outcome as a lesson in political accountability.
“Even in our defeat, the people’s victory is evident,” Tejashwi’s brother and Jan Shakti Janata Dal president, Tej Pratap Yadav, wrote on Facebook. “Bihar has sent a clear message that politics will no longer be about nepotism, but about good governance and education.”
Tej Pratap described the election as a “crushing defeat” for certain elements within the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), whom he dubbed “Jaichands,” accusing them of hollowing out the party from within. “I have won even after losing because I have the love, trust, and blessings of the people, but the truth is bitter,” he wrote.
He added that history would not forgive those who prioritised personal power over public service, emphasising the importance of respecting the electorate. “The people are our parents. Defeat and victory are different things, but determination and effort are the true victories,” he said, pledging to continue serving the constituents of Mahua irrespective of electoral outcomes.
Tej Pratap also praised the incoming government, describing it as a triumph of “good governance” and attributing the NDA’s success to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s administrative record, and the strategic efforts of Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP in-charge for Bihar, Dharmendra Pradhan.
He highlighted the unity of the five-party NDA alliance, calling it the key factor behind the victory. “This victory belongs to the people of Bihar. It is a victory of faith, a victory of the resolve for development and good governance,” he wrote, thanking the youth, women, and voters of the state for their support.
Tej Pratap concluded by vowing that the RJD would return “even stronger” as the voice of the people, signalling a commitment to continue political engagement despite the party’s electoral setback.
