Patna: Former minister and BJP legislator Nitish Mishra paid a visit to Samrat Choudhary, who has been appointed Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister in Nitish Kumar’s new government, to congratulate him on the NDA’s decisive victory in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.
The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) secured a landslide win, capturing 202 seats and forming the state government with a commanding majority. On Sunday, Mishra met Choudhary at his Patna residence, wishing him success in his new responsibilities.

Despite being a prominent figure in the BJP and a former Industry Minister in Nitish Kumar’s cabinet, Mishra was not included in the latest NDA cabinet. His name had, however, been discussed during cabinet formation deliberations.
Posting on social media after the meeting, Mishra wrote that he had met “the Honorable Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Bihar, Shri Samrat Chaudhary, to congratulate him on the NDA’s historic victory and wish him well for his new responsibilities in government.”
Mishra, a four-term MLA representing Jhanjharpur, secured 1,07,958 votes in the 2025 elections, defeating CPI(M) candidate Ram Narayan Yadav by a margin of 54,849 votes. He is also reportedly being considered for the post of Bihar BJP president. Nitish Mishra is the son of former Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra.
