Patna: A man has died and three others were injured after a speeding car drove into pedestrians on Jhakri Mahadev Road in Danapur, Patna. The driver, who was travelling on the wrong side, fled the scene moments after the collision, police said.
CCTV footage of the incident has circulated widely online, capturing the moment the car struck several people at an estimated speed of 50–60 km/h. The video, described by eyewitnesses as “horrific”, shows the vehicle running over a dog before hitting bystanders and dragging two victims beneath the vehicle. Despite people attempting to stop the car by striking its windows, the driver accelerated and escaped.
The victim who died has been identified as 60-year-old Chancy Rai. Police and traffic officials arrived at the scene shortly after the incident and have begun analysing footage from nearby cameras. Investigators believe the car fled in the direction of Marine Drive, and efforts are underway to trace its number plate and identify the suspect.
